The Didgeridoo
The didgeridoo is a woodwind instrument.
It is curved and you need to blow into it to make a noise .
It is colourful like a rainbow .
There are only a few didgeridoos used in a song.
Didgeridoos are tall like a giraffe .
There are two holes on the top and bottom. The biggest hole is the bottom one because all the noise comes out of it.The top is the smallest because your mouth can fit into it so you can
play the instrument.
Did you know that most didgeridoos have patterns on them?
I have a didgeridoo it is 1oo years old .
Toetoe
Maori name: Toetoe
Common name: Toitoi grass
Botanical name: Cortaderia toetoe
The toetoe is the largest native grass in New Zealand.
The lower parts of the young shoots of toetoe were eaten to stop diarrhoea.
The young shoots of toetoe were chewed to relieve symptoms of kidney and bladder complaints.
To treat toothache, the stem of the toetoe was roasted on an open fire then chewed until pain was relieved.
